Year Round Courses
General English Courses offered at all levels from beginner to advanced

Intensive Course (Full Day)
Course consists of:

24 hours tuition (32 lessons of 45 minutes)
per week

Use of Self Study Centre

Maximum class size 10 year-round

Course Content:

Language - grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, functions and usage of English (Course book based)

Skills - especially speaking and listening to increase confidence and fluency in the use of English

Fluency practice through fluency activities. Each week students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of Special Interest topics which may include: Business English, Pronunciation, Study Skills, Culture, Grammar, Literature and other options.

 

 

Semi-Intensive Course (Half Day)
Offered from beginner (set course dates - see dates and fees) to advanced level.
Course consists of:

15 hours tuition (20 lessons of 45 minutes) per week

Use of Self Study Centre

Maximum class size 10 (15 in July and August)

Course Content:

Language - grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, functions and usage of English (Course book based)

Skills - especially speaking and listening to increase confidence and fluency in use of English.

College Year Programme is suitable for students wishing to spend 15 weeks or more studying General English or preparing for university or college entranceTerm dates are set (see Dates and Fees). Students following this course are encouraged to enrol for an examination course (IELTS or Cambridge, level dependent).

Course consists of:
15 hours tuition
(20 lessons of 45 minutes)
per week or 24 hours tuition
(32 lessons of 45 minutes)
Use of Self Study Centre
Start any Monday
Minimum of 15 weeks

Activities
ITS English School offers a full programme of activities for students.
Hastings has excellent facilities for all sports and leisure activities and we encourage students and staff to participate in our social programme.
Participants on teacher training courses will be given the opportunity to accompany staff and students on our evening activity programme which may include visiting the pubs in the old fishing quarter, local theatrical and musical events and our own in-house events which take place in our Students’ Club.

Trinity Courses
Trinity College qualifications for teachers of English are well known and recognised all over the world.

The Trinity College Certificate in TESOL is a widely accepted initial qualification for starting to teach EFL and holders can expect to find junior posts in the UK and abroad. This course was first offered by ITS English School Hastings in 1988.
Trinity courses are open to non-native speakers of English with a near native-speaker ability (eg Cambridge Proficiency Level)

Language appropriacy
An emphasis on communicative skills including pronunciation

Suitable for post C.A.E. level


Methodology for English Teachers
A two-week refresher course for experienced teachers of English designed to explore current teaching methodology.
Course includes:
24 hours of tuition (32 lessons of 45 minutes)
Developing teaching skills and individual potential
Approaches to teaching and learning
Class observation by arrangement
Classroom management skills and class dynamics

Methodology Two for English Teachers
A two-week teacher development course for experienced teachers of English, which aims to develop the potential of the teacher through current methodology.
Course includes:
24 hours of tuition (32 lessons of 45 minutes)
Developing teaching skills and individual potential
Current trends in teaching and learning
Classroom observation by arrangement
Evaluating teaching techniques
Designing and adapting materials
